Lands of Lamington - historic seat, now gone. The lands here were held by the Baillie family from 1368. Mary, Queen of Scots visited Lamington in 1565, and the Baillies were supporters of her. However, after Mary fled the country the lands were forfeited. The family soon got them back and the 13th century tower here was occupied up until 1750. It was destroyed deliberately so the stone could be used to build field dykes.
